Book design

To create and design a book from scratch takes a tenacity that boarders on obsessiveness. A tangle of obstacles and a puzzle in design, their joy comes from the shear effort to make it happen.

Both Stories by the Wayside, and David Jones, 175 Years are deserving stories to be told, and each books owes an equal debt to the publishers, editors and writers: Reverend Graham Long for ‘Stories’ and Helen O’Neill for ‘175’. Each author matching in voice, what ink and image have rendered on the page.

Traditionally seen as two distinctly different disciplines, advertising and publishing have parallel skill-sets. Design, vision, and stamina are required from both; but a book brings with it the added responsibility of longevity. They are lasting objects to treasure, to keep, that become a memento and a marker of the time.
